Floor stand or wall mount: choosing the right setup for your interactive screen

It's easy to treat the mount as an afterthought once you've picked a screen, but a mobile floor stand and a fixed wall mount solve genuinely different problems — and picking the wrong one usually shows up as a frustration months later, not on installation day.

Wall mounts: pick this when the room has one job

If a screen is going into a space that's used the same way every time — a boardroom, a reception area, a dedicated training room — a wall mount is usually the better call. It's more stable, takes up no floor space, and tends to look more finished as part of the room. The trade-off is permanence: once it's up, moving it means patching a wall.

Floor stands: pick this when the room does double duty

Shared spaces — a hall used for training one day and events the next, or a classroom that gets rearranged for different activities — benefit from a stand that can be wheeled out of the way or repositioned without tools. A good floor stand with a stable base handles this without the screen feeling wobbly or unsafe once it's loaded with a large panel.

Weight changes the decision

Larger panels are heavier, and that affects both options. A wall mount needs to be rated for the panel's weight and fixed into a stud or solid substrate — not just plasterboard. A floor stand needs a wide enough base and a low enough centre of gravity that it won't tip, especially once cabling and any add-on accessories are attached. This is one area where it's worth checking the numbers rather than assuming any stand will do — if you're not sure what a specific panel needs, ask us before you buy rather than after it's arrived.

Don't forget cable management either way
